Patient Advocates & Community Outreach

Centering patient voices. Building community partnerships.

At the Lichter GreenHealth Lab, we believe the future of sustainable cancer care must be built in collaboration with our patients and communities—not just for them. Our work is guided by the lived experiences, values, and insights of patient advocates and community members across the Upper Valley and beyond.

This commitment is at the core of our research model and our mission.

Our Approach

We are currently working to:

  • Expand our network of patient advocates to inform and co-lead projects, ensuring our sustainability efforts support patient priorities and reflect real-world care experiences.
  • Partner with community organizations across New Hampshire and Vermont to identify aligned goals and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Engage in two-way dialogue with patients, caregivers, and local residents about how climate, cancer, and care intersect in their lives.
  • Collaborate with Dartmouth Cancer Center’s Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team to ensure that our work reflects the needs of the populations we serve.

Looking Ahead

We are in the early stages of:

  • Forming a GreenHealth Lab Community Advisory Group
  • Launching a qualitative study on patient perceptions of sustainability in cancer care
  • Hosting listening sessions and community dialogues around climate resilience, cancer risk, and sustainable care delivery in the Upper Valley
